Snow day!

We have had snow days all weekend! Lucky aren't we? Saturday we spent going through photos and slides from my parents. A big suitcase FULL of them! It was kind of fun though, and Jim set up the slide projector so Saturday night we looked through them. There were some from when the kids were very small, (or unborn!). Sunday was another snow day! We went through all my recipes, ones on recipe cards, cut from magazines, (stolen from dr. offices) written in notebooks and on paper napkins. They are all sorted now according to type and Jim said if the snow ever stops he will go to office max and get some 3 ring binders and I will ALWAYS know where to look for whatever I want to cook!! Today is an official snowday, with school cancellation and everything! We worked on the driveway for several hours and Jim is back out there again trying to finish, he just wishes it would stop snowing for a while! I shovelled the walk when he first went out and it was white by the time I got to the end again.
But snow days are lovely! My youngest daughter is making peanut butter cookies, I'm catching up with friends on the computer and then I fully intend to go up to my sewing room and get some serious work done on something.

Monday Monday

oops, Tuesday Tuesday,
I put a picture of one of my favorite paintings on here now, so it will likely take forever to download.
Current projects include:
My jar quilt
Second snack quilt
floral blocks
wine quilt

I also want to use up some orphan blocks, and some strings
and I want to plan out a scrappy floral triple Irish chain

Names for the guild

Hmm, it should reflect on the size of the guild, which is.... small. If we spoke French, we could use something sweet and lovely like petite amis. Which, I probably spelled wrong anyway since it's been 24 years since college French class. "One of the Worlds Smallest Quilt Guilds" is fitting, but it's a bit long and not too catchy.
"Ladies who quilt outside the lines"? well, that might describe me, but my cousin is much too particular to let her quilting lines wander.
"Running with Rotary Cutters"? not that snappy either is it?
Ahhh, "the Marooooooon Quilters" Inside joke, remember Bugs Bunny? We could even have guild colors! Marooooooooon and Green of course! and a mascot? A green rabbit?
What do you think Anner??

Saturday musings

The dog is doing his morning jogging. Really, he jogs in a circle around the house. Now that it's winter he has made quite an icy snow path, I'm not sure why he doesn't slip more often. In the summer he wears the grass out in a wide arc around the side, with branches that arc off to the front yard and off to the east field. Lucky for us he does his business there most of the time so it's safe to run around barefoot.

I have the run of the house today, my youngest is staying with her biggest sister for the weekend, and though I need to keep the noise level a bit low (my sweet husband is working nights and sleeping) I can do whatever I want!

which, sad to say, includes cleaning up the kitchen.
