Back in Sorts!

I'll tell ya, nothing gets you right back in sorts like a birthday!
And this one was pretty darn good too!!!
The big guy was working nights, so he slept through much of it. But the girls took charge and took care of the rest of it.
I had lovely coffee on the porch. - until we all got too cold and went in the house, this is, after all, Wisconsin. yeah, 68 gets a bit chilly when it's windy.

But! Once in the house, I had my awesome package from my best blog buddy Flori!! Otherwise known as Susan, the officer in charge of coffee in One Of The Worlds Smallest Quilt Guilds........... see my sidebar. Go ahead, I'll wait for you...... toe tapping quietly................ subtle look at watch..............
Isn't she awesome!
She sent a big box of all kinds of treats, most of them were wrapped in fabric too! My favorite gift wrap! I took pictures of every step of it, and if I can ever EVER get them off my camera I will post a retrospective of the gift opening. fabrics, a super cute cake slice pincushion, an awesome totebag, a quilt magazine. I was just in HEAVEN!!!
Then daughters number 3 and 4 took me to the antique mall and we spent several enjoyable hours there. Meanwhile daughter number 2 made dinner. We did pick up a luscious chocolate cake from a local grocery store bakery. A nice small one so there weren't any leftovers!!
Then the big guy had me sit down on the porch and he gave me a Yak Rack for the new kayak he got me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK does it get any better????? And my orthopaedic surgeon says I can go for it!!! yippeeee

Sorts?

Fair warning~
I'm out of sorts tonight.
I don't particularly know why. I just am.
Does that happen to you?
Are there other people out of sorts?

Just what ARE sorts?
How do we get out of them? How do we get them back? or get back into them if indeed, we are out of them perhaps sorts is a place?
um, I guess sorts is a state of mind since it feels yucky up there. In my mind I mean. And probably lonely too, it is after all MY mind.
And something that is contributing to my Out-of-Sorts-ness, still no pictures of MY OWN!
NO! the stupid camera/card/converter/USB is STILL NOT WORKING! Even shaking it really really really really hard (thanks for the tip cow guy) didn't help.
So, since I can't post any of my own pictures, I started searching for online pictures of "sorts"

whoa.
Some weird stuff came up.
Like this one.
HUH?
perhaps they are sorting funky glasses? but, um by what?
oh never mind, too deep for an out of sorts blogger.
On to the next "sorts"
This one made sense once I remembered about Licorice All Sorts.
I forgot about those.
maybe because I'm not a huge black licorice fan.
Still I persevered.
I scrolled through page after page of "sorts" pictures....
A QUILT!!! The little quilter in me loved that a quilt came up!
I think it's supposed to be reminiscent of the above mentioned candy.
No matter, a quilt is a quilt.
Quite acceptable.
There was also one I won't post of someone chugging a bottle of Jack Daniels.
I have nothing against. Jack. Personally I have to say he's a very good buddy of mine, but not to be (gasp) chugged.
No, Jack was meant to be sipped
enjoyed
savored.
hmmm perhaps some therapeutic Jack tonight?

Angry Eyes

I'm going to borrow Mr. Potato head's angry eyes tonight.

I have pictures on my digital camera- (yes, the stone age version) that I can't get off to post here!!
GRRRRRRR angry eyes.
I don't know why it's not working. I have tried everything, a different USB port, shutting down, begging, chocolate, searching the oh-so-useful help files, swearing.

And now I have had enough!

ENOUGH I SAY!!!

It's time for the angry eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll let you know if it works for me. sigh. I think a therapeutic beer is calling my name...................

My New Favorite Purse

Here it is! My new favorite purse!

I finally made my selvage project and now I want to make MORE MORE MORE!!
The really awesome thing is, this purse goes with everything!

I had so much fun remembering which fabrics gave me which selvages too!

It's like a little memory quilt.

Women who sew look at it for a minute and then they either thing it's really cool or they say something to the effect of "are you nuts?" or "I think you need a life"
But I've even gotten compliments from people who don't sew.

Like the other day, the very well dressed gentleman at the photo lab commented on what an interesting handbag I have.

I lined it with black and white polka dots to extend the dotty them inside.

I did decide once I had the selvages sewn together on my base fabric, that I am going to use some interfacing on the next one. I had a very wonky square that I needed to trim up before I could make the bag.

oh and since it's July Fourth I'll stick a little fireworks in here.................

dinner on the porch

Inviting my quilty blog buddies for dinner on the porch......... Cow guy is also welcome!
here is the view toward the north section of the 'yarden'.
Don't look too close at the bird bath, it needs cleaning. not that the birds seem to care.

Here is another view, closer up............
This is what I call "beer treats". A local adult beverage store has all kinds of beers and ales by the single bottle, you pick up a 6 pack holder and fill it with what ever you want.
Last night I tried the blueberry ale.
it was very blueberry! Nice for one, but I'm glad I didn't have to try an entire 6 pack, might have been a bit much.
The big guy had a Bar Harbor Real Ale. Not quite as thick as a Guiness, but very nice.

Next we have the half whole wheat bread from my bread machine.
Love that thing! I do the ingredients and it does everything else, and we have fresh yummy bread without heating up the kitchen.
Whoever invented this thing is a pure genius!

And last but not least, and also partially gone.............. the shish k bobs!
These were YUMMY!!!
tomatoes, red potatoes, onions, and sausages.
mmm mmm

and since you have made it this whole way down, here is the big cat enjoying the treat he stole off the counter.

Does that look like a tomato to you?
well, that's because it is. His favorite thing to steal and eat.
Could that be any weirder? We have to cover the tomatoes in a basket "cage" on the counter if we want any for salads! He's been eyeing my tomato plants on the porch too................
