Last year I got three charm packs from the "peas and carrots" fabric line. I fondled them and saved them for when I truly needed some sunshine, or when I found a cool thing to do with them...
A while ago I found a pattern that sounded cool, and yesterday I felt the need to look at something other than snow.
Here is the first part of the pattern, square in a square thing going on.
But, the next step has me cutting them on both diagonals and sewing them back together totally scrappy, which gives me this sort of thing. I folded 4 of them to see how it would look, and I'm thinking perhaps it looks tooooooooooooooo scrappy? I think if I had done the outside triangles in solids it would be okay, but this is where my online friends come in. What do you think I should do next? I'm thinking about leaving them as square in a square and maybe doing some sashing or something.
Give me your opinions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually like it scrappy! I think solid outsides would be too boring. What is the pattern btw... I have some charms that I need to use up.
I think it looks cute. Can you alternate the centers to not have the two white next to each other?
I like a solid or a neutral sashing in between myself
I love the scrappy look. What abouth joining them together with a thin solid sashing in the middle of the blocks.
Love and hugs Gina xxx
I'd like to know the pattern name also. :)
I'm usually all for the scrappy look, but it might be too busy in this case. Maybe if your backgrounds were a scrappy neutrals or tone on tones....
You should preview Gina's idea too -- that sounds very interesting.
How big is the quilt?? Do you want to make it bigger?? You can always make your blocks bigger - SQS w/the neutrals backgrounds. ;)
Here I am with some other girls, I would like to know the name of the pattern too. Also I don't think it looks to scrappy at all.
It is very scrappy but you know what?? I love it!!! I'd go with it. Love that fabric.
I think it looks great scrappy.
What about if you made the blocks with all the squares in the centers lights or darks?
I say keep on cutting and sewing. Looks more interesting in the scrappier form. Look forward to seeing it done. Good luck!
I love your square in a square blocks before cutting them up and sewing them back together. I would sew them together with white sashing. You have done some very nice work with some pretty fabric

I vote SCRAPPY SCRAPPY SCRAPPY! I love the scrappy look and am not so crazy about the more plain square in a square. Please let us know what the pattern is, I really like it! So, Whiskey Girl, cut, cut, cut and go scrappy all the way! Oh, and maybe a very thin border AROUND the super scrappy block to set them off even more but that needs to be decided later...I really do like them super scrappy!
Oh, and please please please tell us what that pattern is! We all have stacks of charm packs that we haven't used and that is the perfect pattern to use them up!
